As much as welcoming a new baby to the family is always a joyous occasion it is often associated with the death of anything remotely luxurious or glamorous in your home.
This is not necessarily true, especially not in today’s times when we have more styling options available to us. Everyday designers are conceptualising furniture, décor and accessories that are not only super stylish but child friendly too.
Let’s take a look at some tips and tricks that will make childproofing your luxury home a stylish affair.
Get rid of those precious breakables
It’s time for you to reconsider what you use to add a little flair to your home. Swarovski Crystal swans and hand painted ostrich eggs are great but when you have a toddler running around they’re not very practical. Wooden pieces, books and cushions can all be used in creative ways to add some additional spark to your space. Swap glass-covered art for frameless canvas prints or use.
Replace your coffee table with an over-sized ottoman
If you have a coffee table in your living room you may want to consider replacing it with an over-sized, upholstered ottoman to eliminate some of the sharp edges around the house. The best thing about these is that they are functional enough to hold your magazines, drinks etc. and with the range of fabrics and styles out there you’re bound to find something that compliments your personal style.
Customise your staircase security
Staircases are a major danger zone for children. Thankfully parents are no longer restricted to the traditional expanding plastic and metal baby gates. These days there are companies who are more than willing to custom make a baby gate that fits in with the rest of your décor. Got mahogany in the living room? Make your gate out of the same material. White birch in the kitchen? Do the same to match, whatever your needs are custom make it.
