6 Lifestyle Trends Taking Over 2017 – Part 1

The new year is an exciting time for trend watchers around the world because it brings with it new ideas for all things lifestyle as well as refinements on old favourites. If you’re looking to add a little 2017 flavour to your lifestyle and aren’t sure where to start, the folks at Pinterest have offered a helping hand.

Pinterest recently published its top 100 trend predictions for everything from home and décor to beauty and fashion for 2017. They used popular pins, picks from influential pinners as well as some hand-selected choices from their own team. In this two-part post we’ll take a look at 6 lifestyle trends worth noting this year.

Imperfect interior design

Gone are the days of prim and proper interior design this year homeowners are encouraged to take an eclectic, shabby chic approach to the way they style their homes. Not sure what that is? Think of a homely, elegant country farmhouse. You can achieve this look by mixing antique furniture with pastel colours, lace and feminine florals. Play with natural flooring, earthy accents and add subtle touches of vintage luxury.

Eco-conscious everything

More homeowners are become aware of the footprint their homes have. From the way we heat, cool and power our homes to the furnishings we choose more people are looking for ways to incorporate eco-friendly design into their lives. One of the popular ways to add a touch of eco-consciousness to your décor is through the use of reclaimed and recycled materials, repurposing second hand furniture and creating your own furniture.

Letting the outdoors in

This year is set to see more people letting nature into their homes. From urban greenhouses, to living walls, indoor vines and even woodland themed nurseries we will be seeing more of mother nature even when we are inside. One way to bring this element into your décor is with the use of indoor herb gardens, floating air plants and natural colour palettes.
