In this two-part post, we took a look at the key essentials and classic items that make up the foundation of a good luxurious home.
In the second half of our post, we take a look at what else made the list.
A good vacuum cleaner
Don’t let dust and spills ruin your space. Invest in a good, high-quality vacuum cleaner – especially if you are a pet owner. Taking a good vacuum to your home every so often will leave it looking brand spanking new.
Art at 1.4 metres
If you have wall art, you need to make sure that it is hung correctly so that your guests can enjoy it without feeling uncomfortable. According to art enthusiasts, you should hang all of your art at 57″ (approximately 1.4 metres) on centre – meaning the centre of every piece is at 1.4 metres high. To do this you measure up 1.4 metres from the floor (mark here).
You want your picture’s centre – whatever size – over this point, so measure your picture; top to bottom, divide it in half, subtract whatever distance there is between wire and top of frame and then add that number to your 1.4 metres. That is where you put the nail in.
Candles at meals
There is something ceremonial and calming about eating a meal accompanied by the flickering flame of a candle. While it’s not necessary to do so at every meal, you may want to consider lighting candles at meals.
Utility knife and scissors
From opening mail and packages to cutting of labels and trimming flowers, these two items will always come in handy and are almost always the correct tool for the job.
A plant and fresh flowers
You should try and have fresh flowers in your home every week. This brings vibrancy, liveliness and colour to the home. Similarly, plants add a freshness to your home that helps keep you in touch with nature.
